For the last few years, I've complained mentioned my strong desire to learn something new. A new language, a new sport, a new instrument. For his entire life, one thing that Mr. Pencils has done well is listen- even when you think he has stopped.
Thus begins the story of Mr. Pencils' wedding gift to me. A simple story, of love and a desire to learn something new.

Gift Part 1: The bow.

A long, long, long time ago, Mr. Pencils would type me letters for me to read on my long flights home to Idaho for summer and holidays. He did the same thing for his wedding notes to me- it was like going back in time on the day we were making the biggest leap together.
Mr. P said "this is exactly the face I imagined you'd make when I gave you your gift."
Then came Best Man AH with part two: the CELLO itself.

Bridesmaid PF: "Not there! The bow moves across lower on the cello." I should trust her- she has played the clarinet forever (Hook 'em Horns!)
So I went lower, and even then, I'm still not in the right place!
So far, I have learned how to hold the bow correctly, pluck (pizzicato) the strings, and play G, D, E and F sharp.
I will never be able to thank Mr. P enough for his generosity and his gift. It's like a testament to how much he believes in me, that he'd get me a gift that could and will cause headaches as I practice. Thank you so much hubby!
