Something Good This Way Comes: Morning Hours with my Girls

The morning of our wedding dawned bright and blue.  When my alarm went off at 8:30, I felt a two things simultaneously: intense calm and utter excitement.  I wanted to take every second in, spend the morning with my friends and family, and enjoy this amazing day I had spent so long imagining and planning.

I began by laying my dress out to air in preparation for a big day, then ventured down the breakfast bar for some cereal and water with CW and AM.
Slowly, my girls, mom and mom in law filtered into the suite where our hair and make up would be done later that day.  Before it got too insane, I sat down to write my last blog post for you all, as a single lady.  I also took some time to online order our Chipotle food request for the day.

Mr. Pencils and I exchanged texts, including references to Friends- "I'm getting married today!" and I reminded myself how amazing it was to begin a family with this man.

I spent time with friends, and celebrated my luck at knowing these amazing women, like my oldest and longest friend KS.  We met fourteen years ago, as little ten year olds learning to play soccer.
AT put the finishing touches on her speech.
We all enjoyed the trashy celebrity magazines that AT, AP and CH had ventured out to get, among other things, earlier that morning.
My wonderful father provided us with five bottles of just what I needed- champagne to calm any nerves.  Thank goodness.
Yes, I look utterly drunk above.  No, I'm not, I'm just looking absolutely terrible pre-hair and makeup.

The morning was better than I could have imagined.  It was utterly calm, with champagne, good food, and trashy magazines.  Though our suite didn't have a DVD player so we couldn't enjoy a wedding movie, it was perfect. I just was so content.

I sometimes feel like a lone woman, with just one best friend within driving distance.  With these ten women around me that morning, there was a moment I realized that I was surrounded by my best friends, from all walks of life, and women who would do anything for me.  I can't explain how profound it was to have this moment, sitting on the floor of the hotel room, realizing how lucky I was, despite not being able to see them every day.

Around 11 am, PF's amazing husband went to Chipotle to pick up our order (thank you M!) and we satisfied our cravings.
AP rocking a burrito.

At 11:30, the first knock I was waiting for arrived- our hair and make up artists from Belleza.  It was time to officially begin getting ready!
