Since Mr. Pencils and I both actually had weekdays off together, the holiday break presented a great (read: only) opportunity to head to the courthouse to get our marriage license!
It was a cold, clear day in Frederick, Maryland. After a scrumptious lunch of Subway, Mr. P and I arrived at the county court house only to learn that our phones and camera weren't allowed in. After Mr. Pencils ran them back to the car, we swore an oath to tell the truth, handed over our seventy five bucks in cash, and received our marriage license!
Once back outside, Mr. Pencils ran back to the car again to get our camera (love him!) and we took some shots to celebrate!
It was surprisingly easy to get our license- there was no ID required, only our social security numbers, our address and our birth place. Within ten minutes, we had the license with little fanfare. Of course, we created our own fun when we took the photos!
We also confirmed that Uncle J, ordained by the Universal Life Church, is legally able to sign our marriage certificate. We thought we might have to get married before hand at the courthouse, but it seems it's all good!
How did you celebrate getting your marriage license? Anyone else thinks it's strange that nothing is required other than money?
